My Road to a Million

My Approach – Working From Home

Posted on | August 25, 2010 | No Comments

Before we get started on this one, please be careful.  For every legitimate work from home opportunity, there are ten scams.  Use your head, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.  I’m not going to immediately dismiss any opportunity that requires some sort of payment or investment on your part, because there are legit opportunities that require a small deposit or fee for training materials or for initial product costs, BUT if you’re writing a check that makes you cringe, take a step back and think about what you’re doing.

OK now that we got that out of the way, let’s get started.  The goal of most Affiliate Marketers or self-starting entrepreneurs is to work from home.  Since we’re covering affiliate marketing in another discussion and series of reviews, I want to focus on smaller “work from home” opportunities.  Let’s not kid anyone here, you are not going to get wealthy with most of the work from home gigs that we’ll talk about in this section.  Then why cover it you ask?  Well, supplemental income generated by small jobs with which you can command your own hours and sometimes spend as much time as you like doing it will generate income that you’ll need to get your home business up and running as well as fill in the gaps when your HUGE affiliate marketing checks are lagging behind.

I have done work for a number of companies in a work from home capacity and have also investigated a pile of other ones.  For this series of discussions, I will review a few of them and give you a general idea of what to expect as far as revenue is concerned.

Stay tuned!

My Approach – Affiliate Marketing

Posted on | August 18, 2010 | No Comments

Here’s how this site will work.  I’m currently evaluating a number of affiliate marketing opportunity providers in order to review them…oh, and to make some money.  I’ll do similar reviews on work from home opportunities, a few of which I am ready to review.

For now, back to the hotness that is affiliate marketing. We all know a guy who knows a guy that made $500,000 as an affiliate marketer last year.  Or we read a post on our favorite message board about one of the members who works part-time doing affiliate marketing and netted $50k on top of his 9 to 5 salary.  Do these folks from the affiliate marketing world exist?  You bet they do.  I’m going to help you get to that place in life.  It’s not easy, and it requires dedication and commitment, but I’m going to help you with real-life reviews of honest and legit resources.  We’ll also weed out the scams that are masquerading as legit opportunities and herald the ones that are actually guiding new affiliate marketers to income and wealth generation.

Will this site make money? I’m not sure yet.  Ideally I can cover my hosting costs and make a little from My Road to a Million.  If you look to the right, there are some advertisements.  I’m going to try and stay as low key as possible, but from time to time, I may run a promotion as a post and at some point will certainly have banner ads.  It’s life.  As much as I would love to do this ad-free, I’m a marketer at heart and if I actually get the traffic that I would like to see here, I should be able to capitalize on it.  That’s why you’re here right?

Relaunch – New Angle

Posted on | August 17, 2010 | No Comments

They say a million bucks isn’t quite what it used to be.  To be honest, “they” are probably right.  Initially, I launched this site to chronicle the things that I was personally doing to get to a set goal of a million dollars saved (or invested).  I’ve relaunched on a new host, and I’m taking a new approach.  Instead I will be reviewing and discussing ways that people are trying to make money online.  It’s tough to find decent information that isn’t packed full of pop-ups and pop-unders when searching for hot button items like affiliate marketing or working from home or generating additional income part time, but I’m going to do my best to talk about some of the legit sources and give some information on how I’m using them in my day to day quest to become wealthy and independent of corporate life.

I should interject with a disclaimer here.  I’m not a financial advisor, life coach, or career counselor.  Your experience with the products and items that I discuss here will undoubtedly vary from mine.  You might be WAY more successful or you might not.  In a nutshell, I take no responsibility for any income lost (or gained) by my readers.  That all being said, be smart and make some cash.
